We’re looking for two highly motivated Benefits Officers to join our Benefits Team within the Revenues and Benefits Service. The grade will depend on your level of experience.
If you haven’t been in the world of Benefits for long, we’d like you to have used:
• Computerised benefit processing systems, ideally Capita
• Computerised document management systems
If you’re a seasoned Benefits practitioner, we’d also like you to be experienced in:
• Processing all types of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support cases, with a demonstrable knowledge and understanding of complex regulations and procedures
• Assessing complex claims, including Self Employed, Temporary and Specified Accommodation claims, Students, Persons from Abroad, HBMS and VEPs
• Dealing with reconsiderations and appeals
Whatever your level of experience, you must have excellent customer care and communication skills in a variety of situations and be able to deal with enquiries by telephone, email or letter.
You must be proactive and highly self-motivated, comfortable working as part of a team or on individual tasks with the drive to get the job done both quickly and accurately with minimum supervision.
