Children’s Complex Needs Lead (Learning Disability, Autism and Mental Health)

Are you passionate about supporting early intervention and prevention? Do you have specialist knowledge around health and social care and services that support children, young people and families with autism, learning disability or mental health? You may be from a social care, nursing, commissioning or health background looking to move into a Local Authority role? Take a look at this exciting new post.

We know that young people with Complex Needs, Autism and or Learning Difficulties are more likely to experience crisis and a larger demographic experiences poor mental health or challenging behaviours which can sometimes result in escalation to Tier 4 CAMHS or Residential Care. Over the last 3 years we have implemented a new process which has resulted in a reduction of 14 children from being admitted to Tier 4 Inpatient Admission. We know that we need to reach more children and young people and as a result would like to recruit to a dedicated post to support and coordinate this important area of work.

The post holder will hold a case load of children and young people who are at risk of escalation to Tier 4 CAMHS or Residential Care. They will work with the system to ensure that services work together to create multi agency community support plans. They will challenge and support on behalf of the family to ensure that where ever possible families stay together. They will hold a register of children, chair multi agency meetings and work across Rochdale LA, the Health System and wider Greater Manchester. The post holder must be child-focused, and deliver what is required to ensure that we offer outcomes-focused and quality care and support. Please see the job description for more detail.

As this is a fixed-term post it will act of a test of change over a 2 year period. If you would like to discuss this role in more detail please contact charlotte.mitchell@rochdale.gov.uk
