The Community Occupational Therapy Team are contributing to project work within Adult Care including Prevention and Dual Care Reviews to incorporate a strength based approach as part of our holistic assessment.

 

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team and help develop and enhance our innovative Community Occupational Therapy service. Our service is at the heart of adult care, leading in the way in helping to enhance our residents’ lives, reduce health inequalities and support independent living.

 

We are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist to lead the small but extremely busy Moving and Handling Service.

 

Applications are welcome from Occupational Therapists who have experience and practice in the moving and handling of individuals.  We are a friendly supportive team who share knowledge and skills. The Moving and Handling team has their own training room and the successful candidate will oversee and deliver the Moving and Handling Training of OT staff, social care staff and care providers.

 

They will manage the Moving and Handling Team, which consists of Occupational Therapists and a Moving and Handling Associate.

They will be working alongside side Community Occupational Therapists and other Advanced Practitioner OTs. The role will also include managing referrals into the service, assessment, provision and review of moving and handling equipment, completion of Moving and Handling risk assessments as well as providing expert advice to Health and Social care staff.

 

Our friendly dynamic Community OT team consists of a team manager, advanced practitioners, occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants.

 

Community OT in Rochdale is closely linked with the 5 Localities, as well as the Short term Assessment and Reablement Service (STARS) Team and the social care team in Prevention.

Opportunities for training and enhancement are available in house and the OT staff also participate in delivering training to adult care.

 

The OTs have their own Practice Development Group (PDG) and work closely across the borough to support and share learning. Supervision is from the Community Occupational Therapy Team Manager.

The work is hybrid with office base and home working.

 

Rochdale supports OT practice placements from Salford and the University of Central Lancashire.

 

The post holder’s must be able to demonstrate an ability to travel around the Borough of Rochdale.

 

This post is subject to satisfactory two year reference history, Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, medical clearance, evidence of essential qualifications and proof of legal working in accordance with Asylum and Immigration Act 1996.

 

In accordance with Section 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 this post requires the ability to converse at ease with the members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English.
