Are you experienced in working with children, young people, and families with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? We are currently seeking a dedicated SEND Support and Assessment and Review Officer to manage our newly established SEND Support offer.

In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing schools and settings to ensure a seamless transition for children and young people at SEND Support level. Your duties will involve meticulously planning and coordinating transitions, managing funding allocations, and facilitating access to a comprehensive support network. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in the development of Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) for individuals requiring such provision.

 

Role Overview:

The ideal candidate will possess a wealth of experience in the field of SEND and developing EHC Plans, with a demonstrable track record of effectively supporting children, young people, and their families. Strong organisational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to navigate complex systems and processes are essential for success in this role. Additionally, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are imperative, as you will be liaising with various stakeholders including schools, parents, local authorities, and external agencies.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure quality and effective implementation of SEN Support Plans tied to transition funding model.

Advise the EHC Team on the suitability of EHCNA requests received.

Assist in drafting EHC plans when applicable.

Collaborate with EHC Assessment and Review Officers, EHC Assistant Assessment and Review Officers, and EHC case coordinators to fulfil statutory duties efficiently.

Chair Support plan meetings using person-centred planning and key working principles, when necessary.

Support and challenge schools and settings to meet the needs of children and young people with SEN, promoting inclusive practices as per SEND Code of Practice and council policy.
