The Work (Health) and Skills Team in Economic Affairs and the Skills and Participation Team in Children’s Services have an exciting vacancy for an Education Skills and Work Co-ordinator to support the education, skills and work agenda across both directorates, with a focus on supporting provision funded through UK Shared Prosperity (People and Skills).

The work with children’s services will mainly involve supporting commissioned provision aimed at NEET young people making sure outcomes and the needs of young people are met as well as linking in additional support, identifying gaps in provision and progression opportunities.  Alongside this there will be the opportunity to support the breadth of provision for our adult population including new programmes and grant funded activity to support some of our most vulnerable residents improve their economic position.

Supporting our adult population and young people is more crucial than ever, especially with the increase in the number of people that are becoming economically inactive and the challenges some of our young people are facing.  This post, along with the wider team will be key in making sure that there is an ecosystem of support available for new programmes building on what is already in place to make sure our residents don’t get left further behind.

This role also will involve working closely with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), in particular the UKSPF performance team and be the first point of contact for local integration, so we will need someone who has the knowledge of the wider education skills and work landscape and be able to manage relationships with delivery organisations.

Identifying residents to signpost to provision will also be a key part of this role and it will work closely with our Get Rochdale Working Single Access Point that has excellent and established links with partners and residents across the borough.  It will also benefit from the other initiatives delivered and managed by both teams that are seen as best practice including our internal apprenticeship scheme and Rochdale’s Youth Hub.

We are also looking for someone that shares the council’s values and is passionate about supporting residents to fulfil their potential.
