Rochdale Borough Council is looking to recruit two highly motivated and organised Occupational Therapists. We have two posts available working with the locality teams across Rochdale. The posts are permanent and will offer the successful Occupational Therapists experience working within a busy Community Occupational Therapy Team.

Occupational Therapists with experience or newly qualified Occupational Therapists are encouraged to apply, as full training and support will be offered from an Advanced Practitioner Occupational Therapist.

There are 5 Locality Teams within Rochdale and the Occupational Therapists will be linked to one of these whilst being part of a borough wide Occupational Therapy Team.

The role includes assessment and recommendation of equipment and adaptations for adults with a range of conditions including learning disabilities, mental health, complex needs, older people and those with enduring diagnoses. Our focus is on a holistic assessment with a strength based approach to optimise independence, enhance wellbeing and reduce risk.

This is an exciting time in Rochdale as the Occupational Therapy service will be involved in project work within the Prevention service and in developing a focus on Single Handed care alongside the strength based approach to optimise the independence of our service users.

The successful Occupational Therapists will manage their own case load, and work alongside social care colleagues including social workers, support planners and care navigators as well as an Integrated Health Team. The work is varied and predominantly home assessments including moving and handling assessments, supporting hospital and care home discharges and supporting formal and informal carers. There are opportunities for hybrid working with an office base to support staff in their role.

Ongoing developments for joint collaboration with partnership agencies are in process with the Occupational Therapy service, including health, housing, care homes and GP practices.

Opportunities for training and development are available in house and externally and staff have access to their own moving and handling training room with a range of equipment.

Occupational Therapists have their own Practice Development Group and work closely across the borough to support and share learning. Supervision is from an Advanced Practitioner Occupational Therapist.

In accordance with Section 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 this post requires the ability to converse at ease with the members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English.
