Working Hours: 37 hours for the full time post, hours are negotiable for the part time post.

Following successful promotion and further development of the team we have exciting opportunities within the Community Occupational Therapy, Handling and Sensory Teams for qualified Grade 7/8 (equivalent Band5/6) Occupational Therapists.  Positions are available for full time and part time hours.

 

The Service is based within the Rochdale Borough Council’s new building at Number One Riverside.  The building houses all Adult Care Services staff such as Occupational Therapist, Social Workers, Support workers and Administration staff. You will work in the community delivering Occupational Therapy to eligible service users, their carers and family.

 

The Community Occupational Therapy Team is integrated with the Moving and Handling and Sensory Impairment Service. The Team consists of a Team Manager, Advanced Practitioner Occupational Therapists, Senior Occupational Therapist, Junior Occupational Therapists, Support Workers, Administration staff, Rehabilitation Officer for the Visual Impaired and a Moving and Handling Advisor/Practitioner.

 

The key tasks and responsibilities of the post holder include:

 

1.         To carry and manage a caseload as directed.

 

2.         To ensure that both paper and electronic case records are maintained, and reports  

            produced in  accordance with statutory requirements and service and interagency  

            policies and procedures.

 

3.         To assess the social care needs of individuals and their carers within a multi-

            disciplinary framework.

 

4.         To recommend the provision of disability equipment for daily living and instruct

            service users and carers in their use.

 

5.         To assess, recommend and where appropriate monitor the adaptations to service

           users homes.

 

6.         When appropriate to assess and make recommendations on the housing needs of  

            service users and the suitability of properties.

 

7.         As a Grade 8 Occupational Therapist there will be supervision responsibilities for  

            junior staff as directed by the Manager.

ARMED FORCES INTERVIEW SCHEME

 

Rochdale Borough Council has Member approval to implement a proposal to guarantee an interview from ex-service personnel applicants where they meet certain qualifying criteria.

 

The aim of this proposal is to deliver the Councils commitment to further ‘the Armed Forces Community Covenant’ to ensure that ex-armed forces personnel are not disadvantaged, when applying for job vacancies, as a result of their service. 

 

Ex-service personnel will be guaranteed an interview under the Scheme where they meet the following conditions:

They must meet the essential criteria for the post set out within the Person Specification.

The armed forces must be their last known long term employer. 

They have been looking for a job for between 6-24 months since they left the Armed Forces.
