Interview Date: tbc

Situated in award winning offices, adjacent to the new multi-million pound Rochdale Riverside retail and leisure complex and in the heart of the Town Centre, Rochdale Council’s Planning Department has recently benefited from significant investment into its enforcement service, resulting in a new team structure, an internal promotion and the creation of a new post.

As a result, a fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced, hardworking and dedicated Senior Enforcement Officer to work alongside like-minded colleagues and contribute to the delivery of an efficient, effective and proactive enforcement service within Rochdale. You will have the opportunity to have an input into service improvements and process reviews including a new enforcement plan, and you will have the opportunity to mentor a junior member of staff.

With experience of handling complex investigations into breaches of planning control and related activities, or an RTPI accredited degree with demonstrable experience of processing complex planning applications and an interest in enforcement, you will have a highly organised and proactive approach to your work, possessing the ability to resolve a high caseload of planning enforcement enquiries, and have excellent problem solving, presentation and communication skills.

You will take the lead on complex enforcement investigations and appeals, including the drafting and serving of Notices, condition monitoring and compliance and the preparation of prosecution files.

Whilst the role will be fundamentally enforcement orientated there will also be opportunities for the post holder to deal with planning applications arising from enforcement cases.

If you are a team player and feel that you can positively contribute to the Council’s Enforcement Service we would be pleased to hear from you.
