Rochdale Highways Service requires an Assistant Engineer reporting to the Capital Programme & Delivery Team Leader based at our Princess Street Depot in Rochdale. The post holder will provide support to the Team Leader and wider Highways Service senior management team.
The role involves all aspects of work associated with the delivery of the councils highways capital programme. You will manage highway improvement projects from receipt of design brief through to sign off of final account. This is undertaken in a cost effective and efficient manner, having particular regard to ensuring the highest levels of performance are achieved at all times.
Knowledge of highway design guides, contract administration, Health & Safety/CDM Regulations, procurement rules and the supervision of highway improvement works are an essential part of this role.
You will possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to enable you to provide guidance and advice to senior management and other council officers, and to support technical staff. A key element of the role will be the ability to engage with councillors and the public in responding to enquiries regarding the delivery of highway improvement works.
As part of this role you will be required to undertake site visits on a regular basis.
