Children with Disabilities Team – Social Worker.
We are looking to recruit social workers to the Children with Disabilities Team, we have full time and part time roles available.
The Children with Disabilities Team sits within the Early Help and Schools Department which means we have significant opportunities to work alongside our SEN, RAN, Ed Psych and HI and VI Team colleagues. Multi-disciplinary working, organisational skills and the capacity to manage complex cases is a priority. Whilst social work with children with disabilities is not essential, experience or knowledge of children with disabilities/complex health needs and/or those with additional needs is a must. This can be via paid, community or voluntary work or personal experience.
The Children with Disabilities Team manages cases where disability is the overriding factor to consider with regards to outcomes and impact for the child. Our main function is to assess and offer appropriate short break services to children who have a diagnosed disability and/or complex health needs and their families. However some of these children are also in need of safeguarding and in these cases we also manage children in the child protection process including Child Protection Conference, Public Law Outline and Proceedings.
A number of the children that are held by our team are Cared for Children, both on Full Care Orders and section 20 agreements. These children are managed under Care Planning and Fostering Regulations with oversight of an Independent Reviewing Officer.
Due to the range of children on our team, you are guaranteed an interesting and varied caseload, where you will have the opportunity to expand your professional experience, but also specialise in areas of interest.
The successful candidate will need to be enthusiastic, tenacious and dynamic.
The successful candidate will be offered regular supervision, a supportive, enthusiastic team, opportunities to develop and work/life balance.
The team now has an established manager and has recently recruited from the team to the posts of Resource Manager and Advanced Practitioner, meaning social workers have access to appropriate support, advice and mentoring.
