The Skills, (Health) and Employment Team in Economic Affairs have three new exciting vacancies in the team; Work and Skills Engagement Lead, Work and Health Officer and a Work and Skills Officer to support the work, health and skills agenda.

The council’s Skills, Work and Health Team, work at both a borough wide and at neighbourhood levels, coordinating the work and skills offer and embedding it in the wider offer of the council and our partners, engaging with businesses and making sure both young people and adults benefit from these opportunities and appropriate support is available for some of the most marginalised people in our communities.  We also work closely with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority and Greater Manchester Health and Social Partnership, attending a variety of different work streams, to ensure that programmes that have been devolved benefit our businesses and residents.

The team also work closely with colleagues in Public Health to support the work and health agenda, which involves promoting healthy workplaces as well as supporting programmes that can help people with health conditions and those furthest away from the labour market move into and remain in employment.

These posts will have the opportunity to help support this agenda and work across the two services, gaining valuable experience from health colleagues as well as those in economic development where these posts will be based. The team also work closely and are involved in supporting the Integrated Place Teams that involve a wide range of partners including; council staff, police, social housing providers, social care and drug and alcohol professionals to help people in specific parts of the borough to change their behaviours and improve their lives.

The council has also recently become a Cooperative Council, which involves  exciting changes in how it delivers its services involving residents more in the decision making process and working, thinking and acting more co-operatively as a council and borough for, ultimately, the benefit of the people and the place.

The team and wider service are involved in a number of innovative and exciting projects and work in a very progressive way valuing the input of all members of the team.
