An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a friendly, proactive and busy team of lawyers in the Rochdale Development and Property Team based in the iconic award winning Number One Riverside offices.

 

Rochdale Council is looking to appoint an outstanding planning lawyer who is capable of working to tight deadlines with minimal supervision and able to act on their own initiative.

 

The Post Holder will give advice to members and other officers within the Council and undertake legal work with particular emphasis on the Council’s powers duties and functions as Local Planning Authority and as Highways Authority including planning permission, appeals, s106 agreements, judicial review, highways and public rights of way and representing the Council in Committees and to undertake advocacy as appropriate.

 

The Post Holder will also advise on and undertake land and property legal work.

 

Local authority experience is preferable however Rochdale Council will consider private practice and public sector candidates with strong planning experience.

 

The ideal candidate must be motivated and enthusiastic and be a pro-active team player who is able to work as part of a busy team; can react positively to changing priorities and is willing to embrace new technology and ways of working as well as possessing good interpersonal skills.

 

The successful candidate will be a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives or qualified Solicitor/barrister with ideally with post qualification experience.
