Rochdale Councils Environmental Management team have embarked on a transformation of all of our Streetscene Services.

We are now looking for a manager who will provide leadership and direction to a team of Supervisors in the Street Cleansing, Parks, Grounds and Cemetery and Playgrounds services

The successful candidate will be joining an experienced and committed team in driving forward improvements to provide even higher standards of service delivery through its ongoing stages of development.

Our ideal candidate will display the strong characteristics and experience required to take our services to the next level. The post holder will also be able to generate their own ideas to improve efficiencies, increase satisfaction for our customers and provide support to our team of Supervisors and staff.

They will also need to have a commitment to provide a safe and healthy environment for our staff, customers and anyone else we interact with, backed up with knowledge, experience and an understanding of the risks we are faced with in delivering such a large and high profile front line public service.

Ideally applicants should have a full understanding of all equipment, vans and plant machines and associated risks involved in these areas alongside playgrounds inspection and Arb works.

ARMED FORCES INTERVIEW SCHEME

Rochdale Borough Council has Member approval to implement a proposal to guarantee an interview from ex-service personnel applicants where they meet certain qualifying criteria.
The aim of this proposal is to deliver the Council’s commitment to further ‘the Armed Forces Community Covenant’ to ensure that ex-armed forces personnel are not disadvantaged, when applying for job vacancies, as a result of their service.
Ex-service personnel will be guaranteed an interview under the Scheme where they meet the following conditions:
They must meet the essential criteria for the post set out within the Person Specification.
The armed forces must be their last known long term employer.
They have been looking for a job for between 6-24 months since they left the Armed Forces.
