The opportunity
We have just been awarded a first stage pass from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for Rochdale Town Hall as part of a £16.5m transformation. We are seeking to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced Heritage Director to work with our established multi-disciplinary team to deliver the £8.9m HLF funded project.
The successful candidate will have worked at the highest level and have extensive experience and knowledge of major HLF project delivery (£10m+ capital projects). The post holder will project manage the development of the project and in particular the second-round application and will help undertake the necessary work to meet the contractual obligations Rochdale Borough Council (RBC) has with the HLF, alongside its own project management procedures and protocols. The post holder will translate the existing funding bid and draft plans into a detailed project bid to ensure that all HLF Round Two documentation and deliverables can be met at the end of the development phase, across all areas. Following a successful HLF Round 2 submission the Heritage Director will be required to structure and manage the delivery of the Town Hall restoration project.
This scheme is part of the council’s vision to reinvent Rochdale and invest heavily in culture and heritage following a £250m investment programme, which has transformed the town centre. The redevelopment of the town hall and its square will help us make Rochdale an even better place to live, work, visit and invest and we want you to be part of it. This is an exciting opportunity to ensure that the historic environment and heritage play a major role in the ongoing regeneration programme.
This is a five year fixed contract, offering a competitive salary package including annual leave and pension scheme.
