Rochdale Council is looking for an enthusiastic individual to manage our waste collection operations team which consists of three supervisors and around eighty operational staff. We’ve made good progress in improving our recycling performance and levels of customer satisfaction with the service but there is always more to do.

You need to be an excellent manager of people and resources to ensure we deliver a high quality service to our residents day in day out and ensure our staff feel valued, carry out their duties safely and know what is expected of them. Waste collection is a high profile service and you need to be able to react quickly to changes and requests as well as provide suggestions for improvements and efficiencies. 

The post holder will be primarily responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of the council’s household waste and recycling service. This important role demands a committed individual who is up to the challenge of monitoring performance and compliance including the use of mobile digital working.  As well as improving service delivery you will need to work with our recycling team to improve the quality of the recycling we collect and assist in increasing our recycling rate.

37 hours per week subject to the provisions of the Authority’s Scheme of flexible working hours and the operational requirements of the team.
