We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Safety Adviser who is enthusiastic and self-motivated to work in our busy and varied team environment, providing a health and safety support service to the Council and schools. This includes auditing and monitoring health and safety performance, as well as providing guidance and advice on the implementation of effective procedures to ensure compliance with current health and safety legislation.

 

You will need to have a good knowledge of up-to-date health and safety standards and techniques, combined with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Substantial experience of working in a large multi-disciplined organisation preferably in the public sector is a requirement, as well as having a flexible and customer-focussed approach.

 

Much of the work requires the use of a PC, requiring well-practiced skills and abilities across a range of technology and software.

 

As a minimum you will have the NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) in Occupational Safety and Health, and have two years relevant post-graduate experience.

 

The successful applicant will be expected to undertake a certain amount of travelling within the role for which casual car user allowance is payable. There is also a flexible working scheme.                         

 

In accordance with Section 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 this post requires the ability to converse at ease with the members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English.

 

Casual User Car Allowance is payable

From the 1st April 2019, a minimum of a 2% pay award will be applied to all National Joint Council (NJC) pay points.  With effect from the same date there is a new NJC pay spine. This means there are changes in the range of spinal column points within some grades, changes to the numbering of the scale points (SCP's) and an increase in the value of each point.  The new pay spine can be found below together with the current pay spine for comparison purposes.
