Rochdale Highways Service requires a Casualty Reduction Assistant Engineer reporting to the Network Management & Road Safety Team Leader based at Number 1 Riverside, Rochdale. The position involves the delivery all aspects of network management and road safety in a cost effective and efficient manner, having particular regard to ensuring the highest levels of performance are achieved against national and local performance targets.

You will possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to enable you to provide guidance and advice to senior management and other council officers, and to support technical staff. A key element of the role will be the ability to engage with councillors and the public in responding to enquiries regarding the highway network.

The main responsibilities of this position are to provide specialist advice and expertise relating to Traffic Management and Road Safety issues; to analyse road traffic collision data; to work with the local community and elected members to identify traffic and road safety related problems and identify acceptable solutions; to develop design briefs for the design and implementation of traffic and road safety schemes; and to undertake road safety audits for highway improvement schemes.

As part of this role you will be required to undertake site visits on a regular basis and you are required to hold a full driving licence.
