Rochdale Borough Safeguarding Children Partnership Independent Chair
Rochdale Borough Safeguarding Children Partnership (RBSCP) is seeking to appoint to the role of Independent Chair.
As we enter a period of change for safeguarding, the RBSCP is seeing to recruit an Independent Chair who will drive forward the move into new multi-agency safeguarding arrangements, act as a critical friend and promote reflection and improved outcomes for children and families across the borough.
The Independent Chair will facilitate the Board meetings and consider how effectively the arrangements are working for children and families as well as for practitioners.
This role requires an outstanding individual with proven experience of chairing complex meetings at a senior level, particularly in partnership settings, and who has a good operational and strategic understanding of the safeguarding agenda. The successful candidate will need to evidence they:-
• Have a relevant academic/professional qualification in one of the core disciplines represented on the Rochdale Borough Safeguarding Partnership.
• Have significant experience at operational and strategic level in a relevant field, such as social care, health, education or criminal justice
• Have sound knowledge and understanding of key drivers, initiatives and emerging issues for safeguarding practice.
• Have the ability to influence and drive successful change management
• Have the ability to chair complex multi-agency discussions that promote reflection and result in assurances and changes to improve safeguarding outcomes.
• Have substantial experience of building trust, questioning, critiquing and providing effective feedback within the context of strategic and business relationships.
• Ability to challenge and lead difficult conversations in order to achieve solutions
The candidate will possess the ability to lead, influence and motivate others. A robust knowledge and understanding of the children’s safeguarding agenda and a clear commitment to work collaboratively with partners to improve outcomes for children is essential.
Salary will be £525 per day, including travel expenses
It is anticipated that this role will require the post holder to undertake of not more than 25-30 days in the locality. The specific commitment required can be agreed as part of the appointment process and is open to negotiation and demands.
The appointment will be for 2 years, subject to review at 6 months and annual appraisals.

Interviews will be held on 18th or 25th April 2019, at Number 1 Riverside, Smith Street, Rochdale, OL16 1XU.
The Interview Panel will consist of representation from the three key safeguarding partners.
