A leading local authority has an exciting opportunity for a User Support Officer responsible for supporting the project to migrate the employer’s users and clients from the existing operating system (Windows 7) to the new Windows 10 platform. The employer is looking for a candidate that is proactive with a positive attitude. 

 

The suitable candidate will be part of a successful ICT Team based at the local authority’s new award winning state of the art office building.  The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills both written and verbal and have a strong recent track record of providing ICT related user support during major project implementations preferably Windows based implementations such as Windows 10.

 

The successful candidate will be expected to provide user support, trouble shooting, floor walking and interpret and deal with end user support requirements in order to achieve project deliverables within tight deadlines and a fast paced environment.  

 

The successful candidate will have extensive and recent experience of creating user support materials such as user manuals/training & guidance sheets, etc to assist users as part of a large scale project implementation.  

 

The successful candidate will have extensive and recent experience of 1st/2nd line technical support and a strong aptitude to interpret and deal with end user support requests from inception through to resolution and will  have the ability to deal with customers holistically, providing a ‘tell us once’ approach and, resolving multiple queries in one interaction.

 

The successful candidate will have excellent IT skills and knowledge of supporting MS Windows operating systems.

 

Previous recent experience of user support of Windows migration as part of large scale migration within Local Government would be highly desirable.

 

The suitable candidate will be expected to work as part of a team or on an individual basis and to show flexibility to adapt to changing demands and new organisational challenges.

 

 

This is a fixed term contract for 12 months linked to specific external funding by ICT Programme (Windows 10)
