Rochdale Borough Council is seeking to appoint a hardworking, experienced and self-motivated Digital Development Officer.
The successful candidate will join a small but very busy award winning and supportive Digital Services Team where genuine passion and enthusiasm for raising standards, reputation and exceeding customer expectations is the norm.
Rochdale has one of only 35 four-star council websites in the country.
The Council website is well within the top 10% of highest performing council websites in the country.
Rochdale is the only 4-star website identified in Greater Manchester.
Rochdale is one of only 16 councils in the country that achieved 4-stars in 2015-16 and remained 4-stars in 2016-17.
Working closely on a day-to-day basis with the Digital Services Lead and others including colleagues and partners you’ll be expected to play a key role in producing outcome-driven website content on the Council’s corporate website/s. Content will also be required to meet local, national and international world-wide website standards.
Experience of using content management systems (preferably including Sharepoint and Wordpress), dealing with sensitive editorial content, repurposing content using plain English, strong communications skills and knowledge of current developments in digital communications are essential.

Support for Armed Forces
ARMED FORCES INTERVIEW SCHEME
Rochdale Borough Council has Member approval to implement a proposal to guarantee an interview from ex-service personnel applicants where they meet certain qualifying criteria.
The aim of this proposal is to deliver the Council’s commitment to further ‘the Armed Forces Community Covenant’ to ensure that ex-armed forces personnel are not disadvantaged, when applying for job vacancies, as a result of their service.
Ex-service personnel will be guaranteed an interview under the Scheme where they meet the following conditions:
They must meet the essential criteria for the post set out within the Person Specification.
The armed forces must be their last known long term employer.
They have been looking for a job for between 6-24 months since they left the Armed Forces.
