An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Home Improvement Agency (HIA) within Rochdale council’s award winning Adult Care Service. You will join a committed, hard-working team in a challenging and rewarding role, offering a sense of achievement in helping to deliver a service that we are proud of. The HIA is part of the Governance and Business Support team, which covers a range of functions, including Governance, Performance and Quality, Client Financial Support and the Home Improvement Agency. 

 

This post will based within the Home Improvement Agency working with a team to deliver the Disabilities Facilities Grant (DFG) programme and other associated adaptations and works in the homes of service users, ensuring the delivery of a high quality technical support function.  The key areas of responsibility are managing performance, resources and quality assurance in relation to all aspects of technical and construction activity of Technical staff and contractors.  Also, ensuring compliance with all Health and Safety policies, procedures, legislation and statutory business critical rules and regulations.   It will also involve dealing with complex adaptation cases to determine what adaptations are possible to meet assessed needs, liaising with a variety of stakeholders such as the service user or their representative, landlords, contractors and Occupational Therapists.

 

You will have a Building/Surveying Degree (BScHons) or equivalent qualification in a relevant surveying/building related discipline and extensive experience of applying all Health and Safety legislation, especially CDM regulations, along with applying robust performance and quality assurance systems to evidence full compliance.  You will also have experience of design, producing drawings and specifications for home adaptations with detailed knowledge of Planning and Building regulations. 

 

You will need to be an excellent communicator, be adaptable, pro-active and flexible in your approach and be able to work at pace under pressure.  You must be able to use your own initiative, and should have excellent organisational and IT skills.  In return we can offer flexible working conditions and the opportunity for training and further development.  The team is based in our state of the art offices in the centre of Rochdale.
